Coast Guard Academy sports starts

Coast Guard Academy starts sports speakers bureau

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard Academy's new athletics director says he wants to help spread its values and sports philosophy by offering coaches and others as speakers in southeastern Connecticut.
Tim Fitzpatrick, who took over as the academy's athletics director last fall, recently created the New London-based academy's first Athletics Speakers Bureau.
It's intended to make head coaches, athletic administrators and other members of the Bears' sports staff available to speak at schools, community events and other gatherings upon request throughout the New London region.
Fitzpatrick says local outreach is a critical part of the department's mission, and that the new speakers' bureau is the first of several initiatives he's considering to promote those community connections. For More>>>
